Global Home Décor Trends Part II: Paris
Greetings from Paris! I was recently able to experience this beautiful and iconic city while in town for a furniture fair: Maison&Objet. This is a new and exciting fair that I could not wait to explore. I have to say, after visiting we were not disappointed! This fair, like the city it’s hosted in, leaves you with new ideas and inspiration for funky colors and objects that I am excited to share with you.
Compared to the fair I recently toured in Cologne, Germany, the color scheme was somewhat different. Here in the City of Light more bright tones and less beige and grey were exhibited. Pink was dominating, in all shades and hues.
We also noticed some similarities to the Cologne fair, like the grouping of small tables. Again, walnut and oak really stood out as the main trend for wooden furniture and details in Paris.
The trip was rounded out with Paris Off Deco, a fabric fair. It is a great one with many exhibitors who we do not get to meet at the larger fabric fairs. The same textures we saw in Cologne were represented here: velour, bouclé, wool, woven fabrics… Colors in purple, pink, grey, beige and hydro. Hydro is similar to our own Stressless color, Petrol.
We returned with a lot of inspiration and confirmation that we are on the right track both with our recently introduced wood, leather and fabric colors as well as fabric textures. It was an exciting trip and we are looking forward to visiting more furniture shows this spring.
Cheers!
